This City of Pickering Advisory Committee meets monthly to anticipate and respond to the needs of the changing demographics within the City of Pickering in a timely manner. The Advisory Committee on Diversity promotes and fosters respect, understanding, communication and cooperation, and equitable treatment amongst all citizens. As well as promoting full and equal access to, and to provide the opportunity for participation of all citizens in all aspects of community life.

We formed the Amberlea gardeners group five years ago. We volunteer on a weekly basis and do the gardening and maintainence at the east side of Whites Road and Strouds Lane and also the east side of Whites Road and Brair Wood Gate. We have won three awards for our Strouds Lane gardens. We are always looking for volunteers that can come on a weekly basis.

Backwoods Players is an award-winning theatre company with a membership of over 150 people of all ages specializing in period productions,. Theatrical styles range from improvisation and comedy to the high drama of "A Spirit Walk". Most productions are staged on site at the Pickering Museum Village, either outdoors or in 19th century buildings. Backwoods Players in an open company, offering a wide variety of opportunities for creative people who want to act or help with productions.

The Bloomers and Britches is made up of a hardy band of gardeners who work in the gardens of the museum village Tuesday or Saturday morning from May till October. As well as hands-on gardening, the club researches, plans, and plans the heritage plants. There are 2 full group Saturday sessions, one in May, “Turnover”, and one in October, “Turnunder” when the members gather together to open and close the gardening season. Bloomers and Britches welcomes new members with open arms .

Petticoat Creek Conservation area, located on the north shore of Lake Ontario at the mouth of Petticoat Creek, offers visitors incredible views of Lake Ontario from the top of the bluffs. The park features a new 4100 square-metre aquatic facility that includes a swimming pool, splash pools, & an interactive splash pad. The park also offers BBQ & group picnic areas, large open grass fields, and is part of the Waterfront Trail that runs from Niagara-on-the-Lake to the Ontario-Quebec border.

The Pickering Naturalists is a nature club founded in 1977 by U. of T. ornithologist Dr. J. Murray Speirs and local naturalist Edgerton Pegg. Our main goal is to provide local naturalists with a regular forum of meetings and field trips. We are also involved in local conservation initiatives, including the monitoring of development that affects the Durham Region, and fund raising in support of preservation of natural areas such as the Altona Forest and Thickson's Woods.

Love to sing in the shower and or belt out songs with the stereo in your car? The Village Singers is the club for you! This group exists to support the history of song at Pickering Museum Village special events. The repertoire includes popular songs from 1830 to 1910, temperance songs, and Christmas carols. Our singers rehearse at the museum village on Saturdays from 10:00 am to noon, a month prior to upcoming performances.

This heritage dance society is dedicated to the accurate interpretation of 19th century social dance in Pickering Township. Dancers as well as musicians, enjoy social camaraderie while learning and practicing a variety of heritage dances, both on site and during occasional outings to various Toronto dance clubs, workshops and special events.
